Opportunity Village attempts to break the world record for the Largest Santa Gathering with The Las Vegas Great Santa Run Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at Town Square Las Vegas. Golden Gaming, owner and operator of PT’s and Sierra Gold taverns, has joined forces with Opportunity Village as a title sponsor of the event.

The Las Vegas Great Santa Run serves as a fundraising effort to benefit Opportunity Village, and is an attempt to break the current world record for the largest Santa gathering. Registration is $35 for participants 13 and older, $25 for those 12 and under prior to the race and $45 on race day. Registration fee includes a five-piece Santa Suit and great gifts including a ticket to the 2009 season of Magical Forest at Opportunity Village.  Interested participants may register through the Opportunity Village Web site or by visiting any Las Vegas PT’s and Sierra Gold location.

OTHER: The current world record for the Santa Run was set in 2007 with 12,965 participants at the Santa Dash in Derry Ireland.  In 2007, the Las Vegas Great Santa Run had nearly 8,000 participants, its best effort to date. This year, Opportunity Village and Golden Gaming Inc. are working hard to make sure the record comes back to Las Vegas.

Opportunity Village is a Las Vegas-based, not-for-profit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities to improve the quality of their lives and the lives of their families.  Opportunity Village is the largest private provider of vocational training, employment, advocacy and recreation for people with disabilities in Nevada and is currently serving hundreds of people with severe disabilities every day.
