The 5th Annual Hogs & Heifers Miracle on 3rd Street Toys for Tots Run is Sunday December 13th, Registration & Continental Breakfast 8-10am, Kick Stands up at 10:30am and back to Hogs for the Afterparty at 2:30pm with Bruces yummy eats and the awesome Moanin’ Black Snakes kicking out the live rock tunes!!  Last year we focused on a bicycle drive but have decided this year to keep it simple, as so many people are truly struggling financially.  We are looking to gather as many new toys as possible and this year we will be adding a new element to the Toy Run while we are over at Sunrise Children?s Hospital,  we will be setting up tents and tables out in front of the hospital and a variety of arts and crafts projects for the kids to enjoy, also, Kimberly Schultz of Bare Asset Leather will be setting up a station for the kids to make and decorate leather wrapped Christmas ornaments.  We need volunteers to help run the arts and crafts stations so if you would like to donate your time, please respond to Shawn so she can make sure we will have enough volunteers by the 12th. A HUGE hug and thanks in advance for your time!!

Toys must be new and unwrapped.  Unfortunately this year as the risks and concerns surrounding the H1N1 Virus increase, the hospitals are on high alert and we will be unable to do a walk through the floors of the hospital with Santa to distribute toys to the kids who cannot come down.  However the hospital staffers will be sure to get toys and gifts to these children and their families so we just need to make sure we have enough toys to go around.  The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation has been overwhelmed with requests from families to be adopted by them for the Holiday Season.  Jeff Gordon told me that this year, the gifts and Holiday experience we bring to Sunrise will be the only Holiday celebration and gifts that many of these children will have this year and in advance, he wants to thank everyone for their continued support and participation in this event.  Apparently it is singularly the favorite event of the year for the kids and they are very excited about it this year.

As the needs of our community increase and as the expendable income of our community decreases, I recognize that funds are extremely limited for all this year and as such I am asking you all to reach out to friends, neighbors, co-workers and your employers or business associates to get involved.  The more people we can get on board the greater the chance of having a successful day with toys for all of the kids in treatment and their siblings.  If anyone is willing to put out flyers, donation buckets and toy bins, please let us know, we will be happy to deliver them directly to any location.  Feel free to forward this email to anyone you can think of and the link to our flyer, which we would appreciate others posting on their websites as well. http://www.hogsandheifers.com/aboutus/flyers/20091213_lv_toys4tots.html

If anyone has good press links, we would also be very grateful for any press attention we can bring in advance of the event to help increase participation and awareness.

The Christmas party will be held on Sunday December 20th and we will be having another Pot Luck Christmas this year.  It was a huge success last year and many people have requested that we do it again this year?and so we are!  Stay tuned for more Christmas Party specifics coming your way.  I am looking forward to celebrating the Holidays with all of you and having the opportunity to do something nice for our staff and customers who support us year round!
