Primm, Nev. – The Country Superstars Tribute after-party band has donated $1,000 to the Las Vegas Veteran’s Hospital, money the group collected in its tip jar during the last few months in the Whiskey Pete Showroom.

On Friday, Dec. 18, the band presented a check to Dr. Kakohona, director of the Veteran’s Volunteer Services for Nevada.

“The tip jar started out as kind of a joke, an empty pail for us to make fun of on stage,” said Gary Clemmons, the band’s bassist and a veteran of the United States Marines who served in Vietnam. “But when the contributions started stacking up, we decided we should give something back to those who have given so much for our freedom.”

The Country Superstars Tribute show also features veterans Dave Hoover as Tim McGraw (U.S.M.C. – Operation Desert Storm) and Roy Hammock as Willie Nelson (U.S. Army – Korean War).

The Country Superstars Tribute, a Las Vegas-based live music show which features impersonations of country music’s biggest stars backed by a live five-piece band, has been featured at Whiskey Pete’s Showroom in Primm since ending a successful two-year run downtown on Fremont Street in July 2009. The after-party follows performances on Friday and Saturday nights, and features the show’s musicians and special guest performers.

The Country Superstars Tribute Show performs 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. After each Friday and Saturday show, the Country Superstars Tribute after-party band performs in the Whiskey Pete’s Lounge from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. playing hits from yesterday and today.
