I’ve eaten in a few churrascarias, but I gotta tell you, this is the best. For those of you not familiar with these Brazilian steak houses, they are a carnivore’s dream come true. When you go, go hungry.

These places all work the same way. After you’re seated and order drinks, there is a self serve buffet for salads, appetizers, and side dishes. You have a little gizmo on your table that is red on one side and green on the other. When you?re ready for the meat, you flip it over to the green side. This lets the strolling gauchos know to start stopping at your table and offering you fresh grilled meats they carry throughout the restaurant.

The first thing that makes Texas de Brazil stand out among these fun places is the amazing variety of foods at the buffet. Their salad and appetizer offerings are truly unique and gourmet. Everything is extremely fresh. They have big pieces of crispy thick slab bacon, grilled provolone cheese, whole caper berries, and an enormous chunk of Brazilian parmesan like cheese for shaving. They have lobster bisque, sautéed mushrooms, and a gratin potatoes, and many more delicacies for you to enjoy. Each table is also provided fresh mashed potatoes and fried bananas for everyone to share.

The second thing is the meat. While I have enjoyed the meats at all the other churrascarias I?ve dined at, this is the best. OMG When you flip your signal to green be ready to chow down. They have beef (lots of different cuts), chicken, lamb (leg and chops), ribs, and sausages. The gauchos come about every five minutes. These meats are all seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you are on one of the low carb diets, you?ll think you are in heaven. The meats are on long skewers and are carved right on to your plate. I like to sample a little of all the choices and then get seconds and thirds of my favorites. They will keep coming until you tell them to stop.

Texas de Brazil also offers a good desert tray. There are some unique choices like Brazilian cheese cake, a coconut pie (not coconut cream pie), and bananas foster pie.

This is not an inexpensive restaurant, dinner (buffet and meats) is $44.99 per person. Desserts and beverages extra. I do think it is a great value for what you get, and if you join their free eclub (go to www.texasdebrazil.com to register) they will email you coupons to make it an even better value.

  1. Bill Bokelmann Says:

The food was excellent but some of the meats were a little on the salty side.

Be sure to remember to use the red/green coaster to let your waitstaff know when you need more or are fully satisfied.

  2. The salad bar sides are the best ever compared to other Brazillian BBQs…great food!
