No

I’m no Miles Davis, but I can blow my own horn.

Celine Dion ended her four-year run at Caesar’s Palace in 2007.

At the time I was covering entertainment for the Las Vegas Sun and as folks wondered who would replace the diva (it was Bette Midler) I wrote a story stating the obvious.

In the column that ran on Jan. 16, 2007, I wrote:

“Who will replace Celine Dion as the mega-headliner at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace when the superstar exits Dec. 15?

“Among the many options that have been rumored so far, no one has mentioned an intriguing possibility – Celine Dion.

“If it is true that almost every show has been sold out for four years, surely an offer could be made that she couldn’t refuse – even though she seems adamant about quitting the lucrative arrangement to have another child.

“Why not take off a year or two, do the family thing and come back? Make sure the children have a secure future and fans are happy.”

At the time John Meglen, president and co-chief executive of AEG Live/Concerts West, the company that leases and manages the Colosseum, played along with my conjecture.

“I would love to see her back. I hate to see this come to an end. It’s been so successful and Celine and Rene (her husband, Rene Angelil) and their entire organization have been such a pleasure to work with.”

Well, he will have the pleasure once again.

Celine and Caesars announced a few days ago she would return on March 15, 2011.

Tickets are already on sale.

The engagement is for three years.

It won’t be the show created for her by Franco Dragone.

It will be a new show, a new design featuring 31 musicians – a full orchestra.

Officials describe the new production as “one-of-a-kind, centered on capturing the romance of classic Hollywood movies and performed with a stunning visual presentation.”
