“Red Skelton” is playing on the strip.
Come to think of it, about 100 steps off the strip at one of the smaller boutique hotels here. The Royal Resort Hotel is a great smaller hotel, located at 99 Convention Center Drive. “Remembering Red” is a tribute show by Brian Hoffman.
He does his show, “Remembering Red”, as a tribute to one of America’s most famous redheads — Red Skelton. It is one of three shows playing there. This show is hugely enjoyable for those of us of “a certain age” as Brian Hoffman bears an uncanny resemblance to the late comedian. red hair, face, moves, style, delivery and timing of jokes… all so authentic.
Mr. Hoffman does three full-on characters of Red’s, in addition to just being Red. There are the hilarious Gertrude and Heathcliffe jokes, Clem Kadiddlehopper, and the ever popular Freddy The Freeloader. The work Mr. Hoffman has put into these impersonations pays off handsomely. There were several grandparents in the audience — with the grandchildren in tow. Happily it is a family friendly show AND in a no-smoking facility. This show plays to a full house, so you need to plan ahead. It’s well worth taking in.
