Today i took advantage of the break in our five days of glorious rainstorms and trucked off to a local buffet. This time it was to the Eastside Cannery on Boulder Highway (at Harmon Ave.). It is a new place and very nicely designed. Lots of parking and easy access — gotta love that.

It’s a pretty popular place, coupons and such, and consequently there can be a line around noontime. We met some friends there. Luckily we had a great waiter and drinks appeared very fast, and used plates disappeared just as fast. Fernando, Raphael, Ken and Brock — all great waiters.

This buffet has some great dishes there. My fave is the HOT mashed potato — not watered down!! The turkey is always tasty, roast pork, various pizzas, and custom pasta dishes made to order. The rice and beans are pretty frisky. Approach with caution — or you’ll be doing the Mexican hat dance for the next 3 days….

The dessert counter meets all expectations. Great pecan pie (YES!!) and cheese cake, carrot cake, assorted cookies. Got a couple faves there too. Folks, give this place a visit. You’ll enjoy yourself and have a fine meal to boot. There can be a wait in line, but keep your eyes open and it can be shorter.
