It’s about time Station Casinos has something to boast about.

The beleaguered resort, which is suffering from the economic crisis that has Las Vegas in its grips, received great news from the Academy of Country Music last week.

The ACM named Green Valley Ranch “Casino of the Year.”

Station Casinos spokesperson Lori Nelson says in the 45 years of the award program no casino other than Station has been honored more than once.

This is the fourth time the locals’ resort has been singled out – Green Valley this year and Boulder Station (for the Railhead) in 1999, 2001 and 2003.

Over the past few years, notes Nelson, Green Valley Ranch has hosted several of the nation’s top country performers including Toby Keith, Rodney Atkins, Lady Antebellum, Chris Young, Montgomery Gentry, Blake Shelton, Phil Vassar and Bill Engvall, among others.

The ACM awards ceremony is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday, April 18 at the MGM Grand.

It will air live Eastern and tape-delayed at 8 p.m. Pacific time on CBS television.

The casino will be among those who will receive there awards at a special ceremony in September, rather than at Sunday’s event.
