Tickets for all Shows Now on Sale

A few new artists, some old favorites and a couple of “must sees” comprise the 2010 sensational line-up for Mandalay Bay’s “Concerts on the Beach” series.  The concert season officially begins in May and is scheduled to run through September on the Mandalay Bay Beach stage. The stage rises over the Four Diamond resort’s signature sand and surf wavepool.  Over the course of the past decade, this one-of-a-kind concert venue has drawn some of the best names in the music business. Concert-goers are invited to bring their blankets, sit on the beach or wade in the surf and listen to the music from the cool confines of Mandalay Bay’s 1.6 million gallon wavepool.  The 2010 line-up kicks off May 22 with Cypress Hill and will feature performers including Ziggy Marley, Rick Springfield, OneRepublic, Boz Scaggs and the Wailers.

Cypress Hill The popular rap group Cypress Hill will bring its distinctive talent to the stage at Mandalay Bay Beach for a performance scheduled for Saturday, May 22 at 9 p.m.  Tickets are priced at $35, inclusive of tax and fees.  For reservations call the Mandalay Bay box office at (702) 632-7580.

Cypress Hill has long represented the ‘will of the people’ and the Los Angeles-based trio of rappers B-Real, Sen Dog and producer DJ Muggs provide a unique insight into the harsh realities of ghetto life. Given its vision, it makes sense that Cypress Hill wanted to call its newest album, and its first under the Snoop Dogg administration at Priority Records, Rise Up.  A vital part of Cypress Hill’s success over the years has been its impeccable production which has been primarily handled by Muggs.  Aggressive tunes including “Insane In The Brain,” “Rock Superstar,” “How I Could Just Kill A Man,” “We Ain’t Going Out Like That,” “Lick A Shot” and “Real Estate” are among their more popular hits.

Barenaked Ladies (BNL) The Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies will bring its light-hearted, comedic performance style to the Mandalay Bay Beach for a Memorial Day weekend performance Saturday, May 29 at 9 p.m.  Tickets are priced at $35, inclusive of tax and fees.  For reservations call the Mandalay Bay box office at (702) 632-7580.

Founded by schoolmates Ed Robertson and Steven Page, the group soon grew to five members and took Canada by storm with its five-song indie cassette, The Yellow Tape.  Over the next decade-plus, four of BNL’s albums earned multi-platinum status in the United States.  BNL also became a top-selling, award-winning concert draw across North America and the U.K. with their frenetic blend of high-energy melodic-pop, crack musicianship and spontaneous repartee.  All In Good Time is the group’s most recent album, released last month in Canada and the U.S. It is the 11th overall and the first as a new four-member group which includes Ed Robertson (guitar/vocals), Jim Creeggan (bass/vocals), Kevin Hearn (keyboard/guitar/vocals) and Tyler Stewart (drums/vocals).

Over the course of his 40-plus-year career, Scaggs has been a believer in many different things in life including the fact that songs should be full of unexpected encounters and fine romances that blossom out of nowhere.  The beautiful melodies should convey the magic of life and also its flipside, the capricious cruelty of fate.  Lyrics should celebrate the notion that life can change in an instant.  This is most evident from the opening stanzas of Speak Low (2008), the ‘sexy’ follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2003 album But Beautiful.  Speak Low features romantic singing and Scaggs, who has one of the most distinctive voices in popular music, plans to entertain the Mandalay Bay Beach audience in much the same way.
