Las Vegas—Campus MovieFest (CMF), the world’s largest student film festival, concludes its 2009 – 2010 tour with its International Grand Finale (IGF) at Wynn Las Vegas. From June 11 – 13, CMF will host student filmmakers from across the globe for a weekend of events including more than 250 movie screenings, industry workshops, concerts and a red-carpet finale ceremony.  Events are open to the public.

Originally created by four students and now the world’s largest student film and music festival, CMF is the only event of its kind to provide free Apple laptops, camcorders, AT&T phones and training to tens of thousands of students around the globe. Nearly 75,000 students participated at over 50 colleges and universities and now the best short films will be screened throughout the weekend. Top students during this year’s CMF World Tour earned over $400,000 in cash and prizes.

On Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12, over 250 student-made short movies will screen at Wynn Las Vegas, representing the best movies created during the 2010 tour and a selection of CMF Alumni films. Additionally, a variety of workshops with industry leaders will be held throughout the weekend. Confirmed guests include Brett Ratner (director, X-Men: The Last Stand), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, Big Fan), Mark Boal (Oscar®-winning writer and producer of The Hurt Locker), Donald Petrie (director, Grumpy Old Men, Miss Congeniality), and Michael Giacchino (Oscar-winning composer of Up).

On Friday evening, the College Battle of the Bands national grand finale will take place at Tryst Nightclub, featuring the top four bands selected from more than 100 colleges and universities. Battling for the national title are south-region winners Apple Trees & Tangerines (Lee University), north-region winners Beyond This Point (Five Towns College), west-region winners The Oregon Donor (Skagit Valley College) and the wild-card winner Jake Snider (Columbia University). Industry judges will award prizes and top honors.

The event culminates with the International Grand Finale awards ceremony held at the Encore Theater on Saturday evening, June 12. Awards will be presented by celebrity guests for the best short movies of 2009 – 2010. Screenings of the top 16 movies from the nation will also be featured.

CMF began nine years ago when four students at Emory University provided fellow students with everything they needed to make movies in one week. Since then, more than 350,000 students have told their stories on the big screen, receiving all the necessary technology and training for free thanks to corporate partners and schools. Past winners have walked away with over $2 million in prizes and seen their films on the big screens at CMF events nationwide, at Cannes, at Paramount Studios and on millions of smaller screens, including AT&T mobile devices and U-verse TV, in-flight on Virgin America and online.

College Battle of the Bands was launched to help top emerging artists gain exposure and recognition. Any student band or music artist currently enrolled in an undergraduate program can submit music for free at www.collegebattleofthebands.com for a chance to be selected for a regional battle. College Battle of the Bands is presented by AT&T, with supporting partners Chegg.com, GRAMMY U®, Gibson Guitar, SESAC and the Elfenworks Foundation. The series began during the 2008 – 2009 school year and featured notable artists, including The Local Natives, Mike Posner, Allison Weiss and Daylight Broadcast. The series awards more than $100,000 in total prizing each year.
