In concert, Lyle Lovett and his Large Band are able to present a musical breadth that very few artists can deliver. The Large Band is a formidable musical collective. It’s a swinging Texas big band one minute; an R&B unit the next; an uptown jazz orchestra the one after that; and then a righteous, gospel outfit. Subtract a few players for a minute and the Large Band becomes a small one, perfectly suited for subtly enhancing the most intimate and understated songs from Lovett’s deep catalog.

One of the most beloved punk-inspired bands in the world will be bringing their live show to The Joint at the end of summer 2010.

From meager beginnings playing all-ages matinees at now-defunct Boston clubs to a prominent placement in Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning film, “The Departed”, the Dropkick Murphy’s have evolved over the past decade into one of the most beloved punk-inspired bands in the world. Now, with The Meanest Of Times, their sixth studio album of spirited, cathartic and heartfelt anthems, the oft-cherished seven-piece outfit has also launched its own record label, Born & Bred Records, as a means to bring new DKM music to the world while assuming full control of their destiny.

As evidenced by the explosive, uncompromising and downright brilliant album-opener, “Famous For Nothing” and the set bowing, optimistic roar of Never Forget, The Meanest Of Times is book-ended in top form and captures among its fifteen tracks what founding bassist Ken Casey calls “themes of childhood, growing up and family”.

In 1996, Sheryl’s second album, Sheryl Crow, earned the Grammy for Best Rock Album and for the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.  1998′s platinum The Globe Sessions also garnered the Best Rock Album Grammy.  “Everyday Is A Winding Road” and “My Favorite Mistake” both reached the Pop Top 20.

The new millennium brought 2002′s platinum C’mon C’mon, whose gold “Soak Up The Sun” peaked in the Top 20 and she again nabbed a Best Female Rock Vocal Performance Grammy for “Steve McQueen.” The four times platinum 2003 greatest hits compilation, The Very Best Of Sheryl Crow, was also a #2 charter, featuring a cover of Cat Stevens’ “The First Cut Is The Deepest.” 2005′s platinum Wildflower featured the duet with Sting, “Always On Your Side.”

In 2008, Detours was released, in which the fearlessly outspoken Sheryl Crow continued a journey of self-discovery that has increasingly appealed to both the head and the heart. Sheryl is currently in the studio working on a follow-up to Detours which will be released in July 2010.

PIXIES Saturday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $39.50                                                               On sale now

After nearly 40 sold out shows on three continents since Fall, 2009, alternative rockers Pixies are bringing The Doolittle Tour back to the U.S.A.  The 11-city trek will extend the 20th anniversary celebration of the release of the band’s classic 1989 album, Doolittle.  The tour will make a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, Sept. 25.

On this tour, Pixies – Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering – will perform all of the songs from Doolittle and its related B-sides, “Weird at My School,” “Dancing the Manta Ray,” and “Bailey’s Walk” among them.  Doolittle, the band’s third album and the first to chart on Billboard’s album charts, includes classics such as “Debaser,” “Wave of Mutilation,” “Here Comes Your Man,” “Hey,” and “Gouge Away.”

An imaginative cinematic production has been created for The Doolittle Tour.  Designed by long-time Pixies lighting designer Myles Mangino and designer Paul Normandale, the set features four huge, undulating, eyeball-like spheres flown just below the lighting rig and are part of the concert’s light show.  Filmmakers Judy Jacobs, Tom Winkler, Brent Felix and Melinda Tupling were brought on board to create 11 films especially for the production.  The films are projected onto a massive backdrop video screen to accompany 12 of the 21 songs that comprise the show.

BAND OF HORSES *updated* Monday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m.

(Special guest Admiral Radley)

Tickets start at $25                                                                   On sale now

Band of Horses will play The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Monday, Sept. 27. Infinite Arms, Band of Horses’ third full length LP and first for Brown/Fat Possum/Columbia, sold over 45,000 records in the week following its release, debuting at #7 on the U.S. album chart. Infinite Arms also debuted #2 in Norway, top 10 in Canada, top 20 in Australia and New Zealand, making an impressive international showing overall. Band of Horses with perform with special guest Admiral Radley featuring members of Grandaddy and Earlimart.

The band’s career chart high to date comes in the wake of a North American tour supporting Pearl Jam, during which BOH’s Ben Bridwell joined the headliners for multiple encores of “All Along The Watchtower” as well as a climactic and rarely played version of Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” at Madison Square Garden. Band of Horses has been anything but inactive since wrapping those dates, appearing May 27 on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, days after sneaking in a stripped down acoustic set at the Masonic Lodge at L.A.’s Hollywood Forever cemetery. The band has also knocked out electric sets from the Roxy to Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern, and filmed a video for the single “Laredo” with Mark Pellington in Pioneertown CA—where they fit in an impromptu May 23 set at Pappy & Harriet’s.

Additionally, Band of Horses contributed “Life On Earth” to the upcoming Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, and will be adding a leg of July dates to a globe-spanning 2010 tour that will include some of its biggest headlining shows to date from New York’s Williamsburg Waterfront to the Greek Theaters of Los Angeles and Berkeley.

ALICE IN CHAINS Saturday, Oct. 16 at 8 p.m.

(Special guests Deftones and Mastodon)
Tickets start at $65                                                                   On sale now

This fall, Alice In Chains will be joined by special guests Deftones and Mastodon on BLACKDIAMONDSKYE, a monolithic triple bill that is guaranteed to be the hottest ticket of the fall touring season. The rollicking roadshow will make a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, October 16.

Multi-platinum-selling headliners ALICE IN CHAINS are touring in support of Black Gives Way To Blue (Virgin/EMI), which was named “Album of the Year” at the recent Revolver Golden Gods Award show. Fueled by the Grammy nominated smash “Check My Brain,” which rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Rock Songs Chart, Black Gives Way To Blue entered Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 5. They maintained momentum with follow-up hit “Your Decision,” which also hit No. 1 on the Rock Songs Chart, along with a string of sold out headlining tours around the world. The album has also been drawing rave reviews from fans and critics alike: Playboy gave it four stars, calling it “Alice In Chains’ Back In Black.” The Boston Globe wrote “Alice In Chains is back in business and business is good,” Metal Hammer said, “Alice In Chains are back and every bit as exciting and heavy” and a Guitar World magazine readers poll voted Black Gives Way To Blue “Rock Album of the Year.”

DEFTONES, one of the most enduring and influential forces in modern rock, released on May 4th their long–awaited new album Diamond Eyes. The 6 full-length studio effort by the Grammy-winning, platinum-certified group was produced and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters). The band recorded the album after their best friend and bassist Chi Cheng sustained a debilitating brain injury from a car accident in November of 2008. “After Chi’s accident, it would have been easy for us to make a sad record,” says singer and guitarist Chino Moreno. “But really, this is an optimistic record.” MySpace.com recently premiered a brand-new video for lead single “Diamond Eyes,” which was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Roboshobo (Metallica, Mastodon, B-52’s). Prior to hitting the road on BlackDiamondSkye, Deftones will play a string of U.S. shows, followed by dates overseas.

Globally celebrated, critically revered, hard rock masterminds MASTODON have created one of the most daring and praised albums in recent years with their current and 5th full-length effort Crack the Skye, which entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #11. Following a spate of late night TV appearances and a pair of groundbreaking Roboshobo-directed videos, the band toured the world non-stop following the album’s March 2009 release. Crack the Skye placed on numerous “Year End / Best of 2009” critics lists and readers polls, including an impressive No. 8 entry on the prestigious Village Voice Annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll’s “Top 25 Albums of 2009” list.  Time magazine placed it third on its list of the top ten “Best Albums of 2009,” writing, “Thunderous, disciplined and expansive…the ambition and tenacity of Mastodon’s music makes Crack The Skye sonically unforgettable.” In recent months MASTODON has performed on their own, co-headlined with Dethklok and toured Europe and Latin America with Metallica, further expanding their notoriety as a peerless live force of nature.

BlackDiamondSkye spotlights three distinctly different and influential artists and fuses their individual fan bases into a single entity,” remarked David “Beno” Benveniste, founder of Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group, who represent Alice In Chains and Deftones. “This is the poster kids will want to have on their walls, and ten years from now people will look back at this as a timeless and important tour.”
